I'm so so excited to share my recording with all of you. We are excited to announce that I will be having a release gig for the EP on September 23rd - So pop it in your diary now!!!
For such a ridiculously long time I've been wanting to record my original music as part of an EP, but the time just never seemed right.
A few months ago I was lucky enough to meet some fantastic musicians who were excited by my music and with their help and willingness we started working on my tunes. One thing led to another and we found some ridiculously talented engineers who wanted to record me, so the EP was a go!
We decided to record 5 tunes as part of the EP including - Close To You (title track), Need To Know, Taking Chances, Never Have and Disguise. The tunes have merged genres from jazz to neo soul, from funk to pop.
I can honestly say that I have never had so much fun working on a project before. Not only was the company great, but it was such an incredible experience to be surrounded by such ridiculously talented musicians. I have to say, at some points it was a little intimidating having such a talented band backing me, but I'm happy that I stood up to the mark and managed to finish the project.
Joining me on the recording was...
Alastair Elms on Piano.
Alastair began the writing process with me over a year ago, and it was really thanks to him that I gained the confidence to continue to write and perform my original material.
Alastair co-wrote 'Close To You'
Nick Fitch on Guitar.
Nick is probably one of the best guitarists I've ever met. It was such a pleasure to work with him!
Dan Hemsley on Bass
Dan has been playing on my original music since my first ever gig. He is encouraging with my music and always knows just what to play. He also picks things up after you only tell him once... which always shocks me.
Joe-Neil Solan on Drums
Joe is great. I've only started working with him over the last few months, but he completely understands the vision I have for my music and always executes it perfectly.
Listen to his solo on 'Taking Chances' .. it's ridiculous.
And Ben Wickins on Piano & Keyboard.
Not only did Ben play on the album but he also helped to arrange my tunes - he's the best.
I also have only just started working closely with Ben in the last few months, but he's made my visions come to life and he gave me the confidence to take the massive step of recording an EP!
Having the finalised project all together is such a special special thing. It's incredible to see it when your vision comes to life, and I can't wait for you all to experience it.
Keep your eyes peeled for the event details for the release gig on 23rd September. Details coming really really soon!
